Minavarkhon Abdirakhmanova is 57 years old, married. Her husband is a farmer. Minavarkhon lived with her family in the village of  Karasuu (Osh Oblast). They worked in animal husbandry and agriculture, cultivating vegetables and cotton. Unfortunately, the income produced by their small plot of land was very difficult to live on.

Since many of Minavarkhon’s relatives moved to the Chui Oblast, in 2002 Minavarkhon’s family also sold their house and cattle and moved to Petrovka village (in the Chui Oblast) where they bought a house and a barn to keep cattle. Right after moving, Minavarkhon’s family had problems. They could not expand their farm or find a  job, but in due course they rented one hectare of earth and grew tomatoes and peppers. After taking out her first loan for USD 450,  Minavarkhon bought a cow and began to make a profit selling milk. Over time, the family’s life has changed. Her son Bahtiyar helps his parents in everything, and Minavarkhon is raising two grandsons and is very happy. Today, on Minavarkhon’s farm, there is a milk cow, two calves
being fattened, and also three hectares of rented land growing tomatoes, peppers, and watermelons which she sells in the local market.

Minavarkhon is asking for a loan of USD 2,150 to buy a milk cow and a stockpile of feed. In the future, she plans to expand the farm and dreams of buying a car.
